Dr. Lars Bouma
Honoring Our Founders and Long-Term Legacy
Implant & Prosthodontic Associates (IPA) was established in the early 1980s by Dr. Thomas McGarry, a pioneer in implant therapy and dental reconstruction. His groundbreaking work laid the foundation for advanced prosthodontics in Oklahoma City and nationally. Later, Dr. Susan Brackett joined, further elevating IPA’s reputation through her contributions to dental education and innovation. Together, they shared their expertise at the University of Oklahoma and esteemed programs across the country.
In the early 2000s, Dr. Lars Bouma joined the team, and the practice has remained at the forefront of the ever-changing dental landscape. This includes continually incorporating digital advancements and enhancing patient care whenever possible.
More recently, Dr. Roberta Wright joined IPA. Today, Dr. Bouma and Dr. Wright honor the enduring legacy of the practice and continue to provide the highest specialty care to the people of Oklahoma City and its surrounding communities.
Dr. Lars Bouma
Dr. Lars Bouma completed his dental education at the Baylor College of Dentistry, part of the Texas A&M University system. Following graduation, he pursued advanced training through a graduate practice residency at the John L. McClellan Veterans Administration. He was later commissioned in the United States Air Force, where he attended the prestigious Air Force Postgraduate Dental School at Wilford Hall Medical Center. Here, he earned a certificate in prosthodontics along with a Master of Science degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center. After 11 years of honorable service, Dr. Bouma resigned from his commission to focus on private practice.
Throughout his career, Dr. Bouma has held numerous leadership positions within the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) and other esteemed dental organizations. He is currently a member of:

- Oklahoma Chapter of the ACP
- American Dental Association
- Oklahoma Dental Association
- Dentsply PEERS group
Dr. Bouma’s dedication to the field has earned him numerous awards and accolades. A recognized leader in his specialty, he frequently lectures both nationally and internationally and has contributed extensively to scientific literature, authoring several research papers.
Growing up, Dr. Bouma loved and excelled in biology classes. This appreciation of science, coupled with his passion for helping people, led to his decision to become a dentist. He says he didn't know much about dental specialties before dental school, but once there, he realized he had great hand skills, a good ability to work in the mouth, and an innate talent for dental lab work. Prosthodontics is the specialty that goes hand-in-hand with all of those skills. Dr. Bouma also likes that prosthodontics allows him to be creative in solutions when it comes to reconstructing the teeth and mouth and making a real change in his patients' lives.
Dr. Bouma has been happily married for 31 years, and has a son and a daughter. When he’s not busy working in his dental practice, Dr. Bouma enjoys metalworking and woodworking, as well as tinkering on old cars.
Dr. Roberta A. Wright
Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Dr. Wright is an enthusiastic, meticulous, and warm-hearted Midwesterner. She is dedicated to ensuring your thorough understanding of your condition and recommended treatment, and prioritizes your comfort throughout the process. Her acute attention to detail and constant focus on perfection were shaped by decades of pursuing a love for ballet. In caring for patients, she is guided by the golden rule of treating others how she would want to be treated. She wholeheartedly believes that clear communication with her patients and her peers is instrumental to successful relationships and treatment outcomes.
Dr. Wright expertly restores smiles with an experienced eye for ideal beauty and esthetics. Her advanced training, knowledge of implant placement, and other surgical techniques, and use of the latest advances in dental technology, ensure positive long-term outcomes for her patients.
She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists. Furthermore, in her commitment to provide you with exquisite comprehensive care and esthetics, she is also certified in Botox treatment for TMJ dysfunction and esthetics, as well as dermal fillers.
Prior to joining Implant & Prosthodontic Associates, Dr. Wright worked for several years in private practice in Boston, Massachusetts, where she was recognized as one of Boston’s top dentists every year in practice. She was formerly on faculty in the postgraduate implant dentistry program at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and has continued her enthusiasm for teaching at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program.
